The Board manages, protects and restores the region's precious natural resources
The Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges region supports a mosaic of bushland remnants, farming land, urban development, rolling hills and plains, diverse marine environments and more than 440 kilometres of spectacular beaches and coastline.
The Region extends from the Wild Horse Plains and Kapunda to the Fleurieu Peninsula, as well as following the ridge of the Western Mount Lofty Ranges and taking in metropolitan Adelaide and the Adelaide Plains.
The marine environment also makes up a significant part of the Board's area, extending 30 km into the Gulf St. Vincent, and includes the eastern side of Investigator Strait and Southern Ocean, out to state coastal waters. The marine environment encompasses ecosystems that are found nowhere else in the world.

World's worst water weeds sold in Adelaide
If you have plants in your pond or water feature, please be on alert, as two of the world’s-worst aquatic weeds have been illegally offered for sale. Be cautious if accepting plants from friends or acquaintances and when purchasing, particularly from garage sales or produce markets, where you cannot be certain of what you are buying.
Visit our Aquatic Weeds page to identify water hyacinth and salvinia.
