First to Fifth Creeks
The first comprehensive Floodplain Mapping Study of First to Fifth Creeks in the Torrens catchment has been completed.
The Study, released in July 2007, provides eastern suburbs councils, authorities and property owners with additional up-to-date information to enable better planning for flood events and will help guide future development of the urban environment in the eastern region.
The detailed Study resulted in a series of floodplain maps, including a 1-in-100 year flood inundation map to be used by the Cities of Adelaide, Burnside, Campbelltown and Norwood Payneham & St Peters to guide future planning and urban development processes and to develop strategies to reduce and manage flood risk.
The floodplain maps are based on extensive modelling of the significant rainfall events in both rural and urban catchments and the subsequent flows down to First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Botanic and Stonyfell Creeks.
The collaborative Study was commissioned by the four cities and the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management (AMLR NRM) Board, with input from the Bureau of Meteorology. Substantial funding was provided by the State and Federal Governments.

Brown Hill and Keswick Creeks Catchments Study
In 2003, the then Patawalonga Catchment Water Management Board (now the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges NRM Board) partnered with the Cities of Adelaide, Burnside, Mitcham, Unley and West Torrens and the State Government to consider flood risks associated with Brown Hill and Keswick Creeks within the Patawalonga Catchment. The focus of the first stage of this Flood Study was to examine a number of components that when combined, would help reduce the risk of flooding. The results of the Study were released in November 2005.
