Waterwatch

Raising awareness and encouraging positive behaviour change is an important role of the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges NRM Board. The Board achieves success in this area through the delivery of key education programs such as Waterwatch, the Land Management Program and Weed Warriors.

Delivering Waterwatch across the region

Waterwatch is a national community water quality monitoring network that encourages all Australians to become involved and actively involved in the protection and management of their waterways and catchments.

The Waterwatch program was established by the Australian Government during 1993. There are now nearly 3000 Waterwatch groups monitoring water quality at over 7000 sites throughout 200 catchments.

However, Waterwatch is much more than simply water quality monitoring. Waterwatch offers teachers a diverse range of education session and teacher resources.

Waterwatch operates across the Adelaide & Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board region:

  • Waterwach – Northern Adelaide and Barossa
  • Waterwatch – Central Adelaide
  • Waterwatch – Southern Adelaide
  • Waterwatch – Southern Fleurieu
